This year, I decided to mix business with pleasure and combine a routine business trip with a relaxing summer holiday. Presently, I am enjoying the clear waters and white sands of Turkey by the Aegean Sea. The water is clear and the sand is white, and this environment is the perfect place to reflect on the wonders of nature, which make such an economic impact on this beautiful country

Last month, I had the delectable pleasure of attending the annual “Summer Fancy Food Show”. The Summer Fancy Food Show, presented by the Specialty Food Association, is the largest food industry event in North America. Vendors from all over the world come together to showcase their best products, exciting programs, and newest innovations. I attended the show in support of one of my customers, an organic food manufacturer, but soon fell in love with the show for the insights, exhibits, and of course, delicious samples.

Recently I took a trip north to the smallest of the Scandinavian countries, Denmark, a nation that is often regarded as having the happiest residents in the world. I try to visit Denmark a couple times a year, and during this trip I toured Aarhus, the second largest city. The initial purpose of my trip was to represent some of my customers’ interests in the country. However, during my time in Denmark, I also came away with inspiration and insight on how the Danes live and work, and how their lifestyle has lead to their ubiquitous happiness.

Just last month I was visiting China, and over my visits the past two years, I have noticed that the amount of bikes being ridden has increased each time. Bike riders light up the streets of Shanghai or Nanjing on their colorful, brightly colored bikes as they whizz past the heavy traffic or throngs of pedestrians. Each bicycle brand manufactures bikes in colors such as yellow, orange or bright green, sparking the image of China returning to the old golden days of biking, reminiscent of the 80’s with its fluorescent hues and hip feel.

“Made. In. China.” Muhtemelen bu üç kelimeyi, sahip olduğunuz herhangi bir şeyin üzerinde gördünüz. Amerika, giysilerimizden kullandığımız telefonlara kadar büyük ölçüde Uzakdoğu'daki bu üretim merkezinden ihraç edilen ürünlere güveniyor. Öte yandan, son yıllarda Amerikan şirketleri için yeni trend, işlerini “yuvaya” geri taşımak. Mevcut yönetim tarafından desteklenen birçok Amerikalı, geçmişte dış kaynaklı olan bu imalat işlerinin Amerikan topraklarına geri dönmesini talep ediyor. Bu fikir, Çin yapımı ürünlere karşı bir tepkiye yol açtı ve Amerika şirketlerinin Çin'de çalışmayı bırakması gerektiğini savunan toplumsal grupları yarattı.

Made in China: Why It’s Actually a Good Thing!

Made. In. China. You’ve probably seen these three words on practically anything you own. From the clothes we wear to the phones we use, America heavily relies on items exported from this manufacturing powerhouse in the Far East. However, in recent years, the new trend for American companies is to bring their business “home”. Backed by the current administration, many Americans are demanding that these manufacturing jobs which have been outsourced in the past, be returned to American soil. This idea has sparked a backlash against China-made products and created the social stigma that America companies should stop working in China.

I have been working in the international arena for more than 18 years now and have been lucky enough to travel through over forty countries for either business or personal vacations. Because of my experience in the international sector, I was invited to lecture last semester at Saint Peter’s University for an International Management Class. One of the subjects we discussed about was Cultural Intelligence in International Trade.

KOBİ'ler de dahil olmak üzere her türlü işletme, kişiselleştirilmiş ve çok yönlü bir pazarlama kampanyasının mesajını duyurmanın daha etkili bir yolu olabileceğini kabul eder.
